Cattle horn, after some processing, can be used as a material for wind instruments, drinking cups, or storage vessels. The working of horn as a material has been known since prehistoric times. Horn can be worked like wood. It can be sawn, rasped, and so on. This allows it to be crafted into all kinds of small objects, such as hair combs, handles and knife handles, needles and awls, buttons, spoons, pipes, spectacle frames, dice, and jewelry.

The water buffalo (Bubalus arnee bubalis) is a mammal from the Bovidae family. The scientific name of this cattle was Bos bubalis published in 1758 by Carl Linnaeus.[1] It is the domesticated subspecies of the wild water buffalo (Bubalus arnee). If the water buffalo, as here, is taken to be the domesticated form of the wild water buffalo, then, according to ICZN Opinion 2027, the species name Bubalus arnee should be used, and bubalis is the name of the subspecies. Carabao is the name for domesticated water buffalo.
