Kagemitsu SKS Diamond Paste

Complete set of 12 different grits of polishing paste for kitchen knives, razors, and other tools. Diamond paste is a paste with diamond powder in various coarsenesses that provides a very fine polishing result when used on a strop or lap wheel. The paste is also very effective for manually polishing the surface of a blade to a mirror-smooth finish.

Preferably, the knife should be sharpened with at least a #1000 water stone before polishing. The diamond paste comes in a syringe containing approximately 5 grams of paste; the paste is oil-soluble.

How to use:

  • Dispense a small amount from the syringe onto the strop/lap wheel/cloth.
  • Then spread it over the strop, creating an even layer. Next, run the knife over the strop at the correct sharpening angle (10-15 degrees for Japanese kitchen knives) (with the edge, never against it).
  • A single application of paste can finish multiple knives.

Regular sharpening/polishing on a strop with diamond paste makes it easy to maintain edges, significantly reducing the need for sharpening on water stones and ensuring you always have a sharp knife at hand.

The Kagemisu paste is available in 12 grits; the complete set consists of 12 syringes of 5 grams each of the following grits:

  • 0.5 micron (#30,000 grit) High-gloss (mirror) polish
