West Africa, Nigeria, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Gabon, Congo, Zaire.

Tree description
Tree up to 45 m high, trunk straight and cylindrical up to a maximum of 21 m, tall root strips (1.20-2.00 m) are usually present, trunk diameter averages 0.7-1.5 m.

Wood description
The heartwood is pink, pinkish red to reddish brown colored with purple veins that produce a stripe drawing on the 15-minute surface and a flamed drawing on the flat surface. Darkening to the light, making the drawing less noticeable. The most beautiful wood usually comes from Gabon, under the name kevazingo. The spider mite is whitish, about 60 mm wide.
