The Kagemitsu 188 is a robust, hand-forged multi-purpose pair of scissors designed for precision, durability and long-lasting performance. Originally developed for bonsai pruning, these versatile scissors are equally suitable for a wide range of tasks, including trimming herbs and flowers, cutting thin poultry bones and fish fins, as well as cutting paper, cardboard and fabric.
The blades are forged from high-quality carbon steel, a traditional material valued for its excellent edge retention and toughness. With a hardness of approximately 60 HRC, the blades remain sharp for a long time and can be resharpened when needed. As with all carbon steel tools, they are not stainless and should be cleaned and dried after use to prevent rust.
The blades feature a subtle traditional Japanese hollow grind (Urasuki), reducing friction during cutting and contributing to a smooth, precise cutting action.
The handles are wrapped with durable black synthetic material, providing a comfortable and secure grip even during prolonged use.
