European Elm wood (Ulmus minor) - straight grain -

€ 14,95 € 8,95 (including VAT)

This beautiful wood comes from the European elm (Ulmus minor). With this wood, it is possible to make a custom handle to your own preference. One block contains enough wood for a traditional Japanese handle.

Elm wood is widely used for furniture and other functional objects because of its tough and flexible properties. This type of wood is suitable for both decorative furniture, such as cabinets and sideboards, and functional furniture, such as tables and chairs. Elm wood has a lively grain and a warm appearance, which also makes it aesthetically appealing.

In general, the wood can be worked well with both hand tools and machines. Because of its tough structure, it sometimes requires a little more effort than softer types of wood, but in return it is less likely to split. This makes it pleasant to work with for constructions that need to be somewhat stronger. However, the irregular grain can sometimes make planing or achieving a smooth finish more difficult.

Elm wood is therefore a strong and reliable type of wood that is suitable for woodworkers who already have some experience, but also for beginners who want to learn how to work with a somewhat tougher kind of wood.

  • Natural wood, not stabilized, not dyed.
  • The wood types offered here are well dried and free from knots, burls, sapwood, and woodworm.
  • Approx. 125 x 35 x 30 mm
