Traditional D-shaped Coromandel ebony handle (size M)
SKU: Hand_EB-M_DTraditional D-shaped Coromandel Ebony handle
Handcrafted handle made from Coromandel Ebony.
Ebony is widely used in luxury products such as pens, guitars, chess pieces and other fine items. It is a hard, dark wood species from Southeast Asia. Coromandel is related to West African Ebony and has a similar appearance, but there is one notable difference: while ebony is almost uniformly black, Coromandel always features attractive chocolate-brown streaks.
The wood is easy to work with and can be finished to an exceptionally smooth surface. The best result is achieved when it is treated with wax. It is very hard, has a short grain, and is highly resistant to splintering.
Coromandel is used for ornaments, decorative trim, carved figures and also for mosaic inlays in floors.
