Wooden Masu Cup (Traditional Japanese Sake/Rice Cup) with Glass
Traditional Wooden Ichigōmasu Cup with Glass Insert
These traditional Japanese wooden cups were originally used for measuring rice and are also commonly associated with drinking sake.
According to Japanese tradition, it is considered impolite to pour your own sake. Instead, the host should refill your cup when it is empty. Likewise, when the host’s cup is empty, it is polite to offer a refill.
This particular wooden masu cup is designed to hold a sake glass. Traditionally, sake is poured generously until the glass is filled to the brim, allowing any overflow to collect in the wooden masu cup. This helps prevent spills and waste while creating a traditional Japanese sake-serving experience.
Please note that these particular wooden cups are not designed for drinking sake directly from the wooden container. Traditionally made in China.
