Double-edged sharpened blade with a core of special Yasuki Silver #3 (Ginsan) steel with a non-stainless steel layer. This knife is hand-forged by one of the master smiths in Sakai, and the blade is sharpened and finished by Makoto Tadokoro. The blade is sturdy and hand-sharpened and has no thickening, making sharpening very easy. The octagonal handle features a beautiful hand-applied Urushi lacquer. A Kiritsuke Petty is just like a regular Petty suitable for all small jobs. The knife is designed for preparing fish, meat, vegetables, and fruit and is the Japanese version of the European office knife.

Like all Japanese knives, Tadokoro knives are not dishwasher safe and are prone to oxidation. Cleaning and drying them after each use, and applying oil (Camellia oil) is the best treatment for these exclusive products.
