These small Japanese planers are perfect for woodworking and Jinmes for the grafting of Bonsai. they can serve as a hand tool or as a hand-shovel. The blades are razor sharp and made from traditional Japanese steel. This type of knife is widely used in Japan by furniture makers. This knife has a core of Japanese Shirogami #2 White paper carbon steel. Equipped with a layer of softer iron for protection (Sanmai forged), this knife is single-sided sharpened so that this blade has an even finer cut. This knife was manually forged and sharpened in the small Baishinshi smithy (梅心子 國 光) in Sanjo. This family has been working for over 250 years forging Japanese knives and tools, the current smith is Umeda Kunimitsu (7th generation).
